FUN FACTS About the Bible, Part 1

It didn't rain in the Garden of Eden, or out of it for that matter.  Water came up from the ground to make things grow.

Genesis 2 (KJV)
5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.






The new earth won't have oceans.


Revelation 21 (KJV)
1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.




The term "scapegoat" comes from the use of a goat that was to receive the sins of the people and be released into the wilderness.
Leviticus 16 (KJV)
9 And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the Lord's lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering.
10 But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the Lord, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.




Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines.  Anniversaries must have been a problem.




 Adam was 130 years old when Seth was born.

Noah was a healthy 600 years old when God sent the flood and he died at 950 years of age.

6 And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.


Genesis 9 (KJV)
29 And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years: and he died.




In the entire book of Esther, God is not mentioned once.

Manna tastes like honey wafers.

The Levites had a mandatory retirement age of 50 years.

Psalm 65 (KJV)

Psalm 63 (KJV)

1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.



6 When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.

Psalm 61 (KJV)

1 Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.


3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.
4 I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert (privacy) of thy wings. Selah (a Hebrew word of unknown meaning occurring in the Old Testament psalms, and thought to be a musical direction) .




5 For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage (inheritance) of those that fear thy name.
