Obadiah (KJV)

3 The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

4 Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord.

5 If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some grapes?

Psalm 72 (KJV)

1 Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king's son.
2 He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment.
3 The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness.

4 He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.
5 They shall fear thee as long as the sun and moon endure, throughout all generations.
6 He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth.
7 In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth.
8 He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.

9 They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him; and his enemies shall lick the dust.
10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.
11 Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.

12 For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper.
13 He shall spare the poor and needy, and shall save the souls of the needy.
14 He shall redeem (gain or regain possession of (something) in exchange for payment.) their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his sight.
15 And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he be praised.

16 There shall be an handful of corn in the earth upon the top of the mountains; the fruit thereof shall shake like Lebanon: and they of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth.
17 His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.

18 Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things.
19 And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.
20 The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.

Job 6 (KJV)

7 The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful meat.
8 Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for!
9 Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off!
10 Then should I yet have comfort; yea, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.

11 What is my strength, that I should hope? and what is mine end, that I should prolong my life?
12 Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass?
13 Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me?

14 To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty.
15 My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away;
16 Which are blackish by reason of the ice, and wherein the snow is hid:
17 What time they wax (develop) warm, they vanish: when it is hot, they are consumed out of their place.
18 The paths of their way are turned aside; they go to nothing, and perish.
19 The troops of Tema looked, the companies of Sheba waited for them.
20 They were confounded (used for emphasis, especially to express anger or annoyance.)
because they had hoped; they came thither, and were ashamed.

21 For now ye are nothing; ye see my casting down, and are afraid.
22 Did I say, Bring unto me? or, Give a reward for me of your substance (being)?
23 Or, Deliver me from the enemy's hand? or, Redeem (buy back, reclaim) me from the hand of the mighty?

24 Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.
25 How forcible are right words! but what doth your arguing reprove (counsel)?
26 Do ye imagine to reprove (condemn) words, and the speeches of one that is desperate, which are as wind?

Even when it is clear that what you saying is right, let it go.  Don't argue.  Some people speak with an endless tongue.  Train your tongue to stop moving.  Practice self restraint and tame the tongue.  Hard to do, but practice makes perfect :)  Peace is more important than being right. ~ Karmen

Scriptures on Deceit

Proverbs 11 (KJV)
18 The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.

1 John 3 (KJV)
18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

Have just realized that the relationship that I have been in for a little over a year has all been based on deceit.  It's heartbreaking to say the least.  Feel as though I am going to have a nervous breakdown. Also, feel suicidal.

Any how, I decided to read scriptures on deceit.  Satan after all was the 'Master of Deception'.  No wonder God hates this sin so much (he does not like any sin, btw).  What am I feeling right now? Worthless, Suicidal, Foolish, Alone, Abandoned, Neglected and Used.

All the 'I Love You', 'I Will Never Leave You', 'I Will Always Be In Love With You', 'You Mean Everything To Me', and his adding his last name to mine when referring to me, was ALL A LIE.  He loved only by words....not by his actions.

How does one live two lives?  In order for that to happen they would have to be a 'Master of Deception'.

One thing I did notice is people who are deceitful never let you in on their weaknesses, shortcomings, sins.  They are very quick to advise, but not take advice.   They are very good at pointing out other people's flaws, but won't take responsibility or acknowledge their own.

They kind of remind me of the Pharisees in the New Testament.  Pharisee / Hypocrites

They are pew warmers (Act like Christians on Sunday and Wednesday services).  They will make sure that they show up to church even if they are on their death beds. Not for God (btw, he would rather you stay home and heal instead of fumigating the whole congregation with your contagious germs and sickness), but for man,  They do things to be seen by man to get man's approval.   Again see this on that type of behavior. God or Tradition

ps - I started a draft of this blog about a month ago.  Am doing well spiritually now.  God sometimes put people like that in our lives, so that we can help them to become men and women of integrity, honesty and truthfulness.  Had that man not came into my life when he did, I would not be writing about this blog and I would not have rededicated my life back to God.  Some things we have to learn by experience and pain.  Am looking forward to God blessing me with a man of him,  A man that practices righteousness.  The qualities I pray for him to have is for him to be a man of integrity, selflessness, self-control and that he will love me according to my heart and soul and spirit.  Love any other way than 1 Corinthians 13 (KJV)  or Agape, Charity, Love is of this world.  When more comes to my mind about people who are deceitful, I will add more to this blog.  Hope this helps you or someone you love.  ~ Karmen

 Mark 7 (KJV)

6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

DECEIT COMES FROM THE HEART!!!

 Mark 7 (KJV)
21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
22 Thefts, covetousness (Excessively and culpably desirous of the possessions of another. Jealous. Marked by extreme desire to acquire or possess), wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness (lewd), an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
23 All these evil things come from within, and defile (spoil, degrade, rape) the man.

Leviticus 6 (KJV)
1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
2 If a soul sin, and commit a trespass against the Lord, and lie unto his neighbour in that which was delivered him to keep, or in fellowship, or in a thing taken away by violence, or hath deceived his neighbour;
3 Or have found that which was lost, and lieth concerning it, and sweareth falsely; in any of all these that a man doeth, sinning therein:
4 Then it shall be, because he hath sinned, and is guilty, that he shall restore that which he took violently away, or the thing which he hath deceitfully gotten, or that which was delivered him to keep, or the lost thing which he found,
5 Or all that about which he hath sworn falsely; he shall even restore it in the principal, and shall add the fifth part more thereto, and give it unto him to whom it appertaineth, in the day of his trespass offering.

Sound Familiar?

Jeremiah 9 (KJV)
3 And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant (worthy, courageous) for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the Lord.

4 Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant (override), and every neighbour will walk with slanders.
5 And they will deceive every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity.

6 Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the Lord.
7 Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people?
8 Their tongue is as an arrow shot out; it speaketh deceit: one speaketh peaceably to his neighbour with his mouth, but in heart he layeth his wait.
9 Shall I not visit them for these things? saith the Lord: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

Leviticus 19 (KJV)

11 Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another.
12 And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the Lord.
13 Thou shalt not defraud thy neighbour, neither rob him: the wages of him that is hired shall not abide with thee all night until the morning.

Psalm 52 (KJV)

1 Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually.

2 The tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

3 Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.

4 Thou lovest all devouring (destroying, annihilating) words, O thou deceitful tongue.

6 The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:
7 Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.

Jeremiah 14 (KJV)

7 O Lord, though our iniquities (wickedness) testify against us, do thou it for thy name's sake: for our backslidings  (sins) are many; we have sinned against thee.

10 Thus saith the Lord unto this people, Thus have they loved to wander, they have not refrained their feet, therefore the Lord doth not accept them; he will now remember their iniquity (wickedness), and visit their sins.

14 Then the Lord said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination (prediction), and a thing of nought (no purpose), and the deceit of their heart.

Isaiah 30 (KJV)

1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:
2 That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!

8 Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever:
9 That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the Lord:
10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

12 Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness (willfully determined or disposed to go counter to what is expected or desired), and stay thereon:
13 Therefore this iniquity (wickedness) shall be to you as a breach (gap) ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.

15 For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.

17 One thousand shall flee at the rebuke (strong correction) of one; at the rebuke of five shall ye flee: till ye be left as a beacon (watchtower, lighthouse, smoke signal) upon the top of a mountain, and as an ensign (symbol) on an hill.
18 And therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted lifted high), that he may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.

Proverbs 12 (KJV)

1 Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof (reprimand) is brutish (a savagely violent person or animal.).

2 A good man obtaineth favour of the Lord: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.

3 A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

4 A virtuous (righteous, having or showing high moral standards.) woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

5 The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse (difficult) heart shall be despised.

12 The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth (profits) fruit.

13 The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.

19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

20 Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.

28 In the way of righteousness is life: and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
