1 Timothy 1 (KJV)

3 As I besought (implore) thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying (educating) which is in faith: so do.

5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned (genuine):

6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling (discord);
7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane (indecent), for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers (a slave dealer, kidnappers), for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary (conflicting) to sound doctrine;

12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.

19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck (a cast away):
20 Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme (speak irreverently about God or sacred things.) .

2 Timothy 2 (KJV)

3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
13 If we believe not, yet he abideth (stood by) faithful: he cannot deny himself.

15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes (bitter sometimes violent conflict or dissension).

24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive (struggle or fight vigorously.); but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure (uncertainty or doubt as to whether something is the case.) will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare (trap) of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
